Why Swimmers Choose SwimMastery Swim Studio

  1. A different mindset — We teach swimmers to feel the water, building genuine confidence and body awareness rather than just repeating drills. These are life skills, whether we're coaching toddlers or adults returning to the water for the first time.

  2. We get in the water with you — Our coaches are always in the pool, using hands-on guidance and decades of experience to accelerate your progress.

  3. Evidence-based coaching — The SwimMastery technique is built on the latest research in biomechanics, physics and neuroscience, so every drill and correction has a reason behind it.

  4. Fully accredited coaches — All coaches hold AustSwim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certification, plus SwimMastery Coaching qualifications.

  5. Results in weeks, not years — Our Endless Pool, video analysis and individualised programming means swimmers improve faster than in a traditional swim school setting.

  6. Truly small-group lessons — A maximum of 3 students per lesson means genuine individual attention. No lost time waiting for a turn.

  7. A calm, private space — Our studio in Sumner is small, quiet and away from the crowds of a public pool — the ideal environment for focused learning, especially for anxious swimmers or those with sensory sensitivities.

 FAQs

  • An Endless Pool is a compact, current-driven pool where you swim against a continuous, adjustable flow of water — similar to running on a treadmill. Our 5m x 3m Endless Pool in Sumner is heated to a comfortable year-round temperature and features a variable current, so sessions can be perfectly matched to a swimmer's ability — from complete beginners right through to marathon and open water swimmers. Because there are no turns, you can focus entirely on your stroke mechanics, exactly as you would in an open water environment. Speed and distance are measured using an integrated timer, making progress easy to track session by session.

  • All SwimMastery Swim Studio coaches hold core certifications: the AustSwim 'Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety' or the Swim Squad Fundamentals qualification — the national standard for swim instruction in Australia — and SwimMastery Coaching certification, which applies the latest research in biomechanics, neuroscience and psychology to help swimmers develop more efficient technique in less time. Our coaches regularly attend workshops and refresher courses to stay current. Many also hold additional specialisations in open water swimming, adult coaching and Masters swimming.

  • Lesson pricing varies depending on the program, group size and session length. Please contact us at info@smswimstudio.com or use the enquiry form below to receive current pricing and availability. We offer single sessions as well as term-based bookings for children's swim school programs.

  • Yes — and it's one of the things we do best. Many of our adult clients come to us with little or no swimming experience, or with anxiety around water. Our studio environment is deliberately calm, private and unhurried, with no public audience. Our coaches are experienced at working with nervous adults, and the SwimMastery approach — which prioritises feel, confidence and body awareness over technique rules — is particularly effective for adults who've struggled with traditional swim instruction.

  • Absolutely — open water preparation is one of our specialties. Several of our coaches are experienced open water swimmers themselves, with swims completed in locations including Hawaii, Greece, Croatia, New Zealand and across Queensland. The Endless Pool is an ideal training environment for open water prep: no walls, no flip turns, adjustable current, and the ability to work on sighting, pacing and distance-specific technique. We'll design a programme that builds your efficiency in the pool and translates directly to confidence in the open water — whether your goal is a local 1km event or a 10km distance swim.

  • Yes. We offer structured programs for children from age 4 through to 14+, grouped by ability rather than age. Our Foundations program (4–5 years) focuses on water safety and basic independence in the water. Our core Swim School program (5+ years) progresses through skills, endurance and stroke development. All children are assessed before placement to ensure they start in the right group. With a maximum of 3 students per class, every child gets individual attention and progresses at their own pace — without the pressure of a large group environment.
